REFUEL WASHOUGAL AND SALVATION ARMY JOIN FORCES TO OFFER EXPANDED SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER SERVICES TO OUR COMMUNITY

ReFuel Washougal and Salvation Army of Camas/Washougal are proud to announce a new partnership to offer our area enhanced life-saving services during freezing temperatures and inclement weather. Beginning winter of 2024, ReFuel’s overnight Severe Weather Shelter will be combined with Salvation Army’s Day Shelter. The alliance will operate out of The Salvation Army located at 1612 I St, Washougal, WA 98671.
This collaboration creates efficiencies in both organizations and allows alignment in meeting the needs of those individuals. In previous years ReFuel Washougal’s Severe Weather Shelter offered overnight services, then our clients would go the day center at The Salvation Army. Going forward, guests will have the benefit of all the amazing services in one place, there will be an increase in available beds, access to hygiene facility, and pets will be allowed!
The Severe Weather Shelter will continue to operate primarily through the generosity of community volunteers. Training is provided by the organization. The first training class will be held on November 6th at 6pm at The Salvation Army. For questions about the training class and to register, please call The Salvation Army at (360) 835-3171. Additional dates for training classes will be announced for those who cannot attend the first training session.
For more information regarding volunteering please contact Tia @ shelter@refuelwashougal.org or The Salvation Army by calling (360) 835-3171 or emailing jessica.wheeler@usw.salvationarmy.org
